Why Cuddle Therapy?
It cannot be understated how valuable touch can be to the human body. We are wired to connect through touch, and there is increasing awareness that the lack of touch can lead to a condition called Touch Starvation. Being isolated from another’s positive touch can further exacerbate symptoms of anxiety and depression, making it that much harder to find those positive connections with others. If you feel overwhelmed by these conditions, sometimes all you literally need is a hug to break the cycle.
Your skin is the largest organ on your body, and it is full of thousands of nerve endings, all wired up to your brain. Receiving positive, consensual touch on your body - like that of a hug, or holding hands - can help release positive chemicals in the brain (namely, oxytocin) that help give you a feeling of happiness, love and connection. What’s more, this kind of touch can also reduce levels of cortisol, which is the hormone that builds up during times of stress.
Cuddle Therapy is so profound because it is so simple. It’s just you, and me. We agree to our boundaries, and agree to speak up if we are uncomfortable. After that, the session is whatever you want or need it to be. Your comfort and desire becomes the focus, and you can touch or be touched however you wish within the boundaries. It’s all about you.
If you want or need to talk, let’s chat! If you need to zone out, or doze off, it’s all good. There is no need to be ‘on’ or go through the motions. You just have to be you, and be loved. I promise that no matter who you are, or where you are on your journey, you will feel better after Cuddle Therapy.
